Many youth pastors from around Korea attended a workshop to focus on the youth who will become leaders from November 23-24, 2006 at the Cheonan Jungang Church Retreat Center in Chungnam Yeasan. Pastor Kim Bong Chul led praise and worship, while pastor Jang hea Kuk prayed and Pastor Kim Eun Yeoup preached from Acts 18:9-11. Following the service the youth leaders had a fellowship led by Kim Sung Il. The main speaker for the workshop, Pastor Kang Seok Won from the Baptist church, led the afternoon and evening sections focusing on how to preach to the youth and also how to develop the youth group in the church. The evening ended with an introduction of a bible-study book for youth groups, and a time of prayer.
The second day began with a time of prayer and breakfast. The group then elected NYI officers for Korea. Yun Yo Han was elected as Education coordinator, Bea Min Su was elected for Mission Coordinator, Jung Jin Young was elected as camp coordinator, Han Jae Ku was elected as media coordinator, Kim Hong Chul was elected as bible quizzing coordinator, and Kim Bong Chulwas elected as praise and worship coordinator for the next year. After the elections the coordinators gathered to discuss how to best develop their areas of ministry and shared with the group. Later in the day 10 Education students from Korea Nazarene University visited along with Professor Bondy, who shared with the whole group about “If Jesus were a Youth Pastor.” The event was closed with KNU President Im Seng An preaching and giving a closing prayer for the event.
This was the third time for us to have this workshop. We had a great time and through this workshop we received new vision and challenge and realized how important is youth ministry. Thank you for supporting this event both financially in prayer. Also a great thank you for NYI President Kim Eun Yeoup for his gift of a jacket for every participant.
