Philippines - NYC 2007: Day 1 by Brian Woolery
‘Isa’, the Tagalog word for ‘One,’ was the motivation that drew close to 200 Filipino youth to the beautiful campus of Luzon Nazarene Bible College (LNBC) in Baguio in the mountainous region of Luzon, Philippines. The Nazarene Youth International (NYI) quadrennial ministry focus of One Story, One Hope, One Mission, and One Justice inspired the theme of ‘Isa’ for the Pilipinas Nazarene Youth Congress 2007. Youth traveled to Baguio by plane, boat, bus, jeepney, motorcycle and foot to attend this weeklong gathering for fellowship, training, worship, and the opportunity to further commit their lives to God and find their role in His dynamic story.

NYC officially started with dinner on Monday evening, followed by entertainment provided by Philippine NYI bands Green Pastures, R.O.C.K., and Selah. Participants were also privileged to hear Soulafekz, a Nazarene band from Brisbane, Australia, who traveled to the Philippines for this event. Soulafekz and our Philippine NYI bands will continue to perform throughout the week, including a large concert in the Baguio SM Mall on Wednesday evening.

Participants were encouraged by local pastors to actively seek God and how He wants to change their lives during this week.
