Philippines - NYC 2007: Day 2 by Brian Woolery
After breakfast on Tuesday, a plenary session was held in which the official declaration of NYC was announced by the Philippine National NYI Coordinator, Mel Maldo, and the NYC Coordinator, Joel Arro. Greetings were given to the participants by Dr. Angelito Agbuya, Luzon Nazarene Bible College President and Chairman of the Philippine National Advisory Board, Rev. David Phillips, Philippine Field Strategy Coordinator, and Brian Woolery, Asia-Pacific Regional NYI Coordinator. Dr. Agbuya and Rev. Phillips stressed to the participants that God has something to teach them this week and they will join the youth of the Philippines in God’s mission to reach the lost. Brian Woolery encouraged the participants that through their many families – local church, district, field, region, and global community - we can learn from each other and work together to show youth in Asia-Pacific the love of Christ. Woolery also introduced the new Asia-Pacific NYI Website with a unique profile builder entitled ‘Asia-Pacific NYI Friends.’ This website will allow youth from all over the region to connect with each other and learn from each other in ministry.

Guest Speaker Rev. Monte Cyr, Global NYI President and Caribbean Regional NYI Coordinator, led the morning Worship Service by discussing our active role in God’s continuing story. Participants were encouraged to hear stories of Nazarene youth from around the world who are reaching others for Christ and were challenged to trust God with everything so they may find where and how He wants to use them.
Following lunch, participants engaged in various workshops to assist them in their ministry, including a workshop on Bible Quizzing by Dan Reinhart, Global Quizzing Director. Reinhart traveled to the Philippines to work with youth leaders to further develop a unique Bible Quizzing program in order to reach youth and encourage intensive Bible Study habits. Other workshops included Photography by WMC-AP Video Production staff Ervz Tia, Small Group Development by Rev. Jun Suyat, chairman of MAWLLING Ministries (Modeling and Watching Leaders Leading into the Next Generation) and Creative Ministry (Hand Miming) by Shalimar Cruz-Tamayo, director of Creative Ministries at Taytay First Church of the Nazarene. Participants also heard from fellow youth leaders about ideas for expanding youth ministry.
Monday evening focused on the theme of One Justice which involved an experiential dinner where participants spent time in group prayer, interceding for those in our world that face
injustice every day. Rev. Cyr shared stories of injustices around the world and challenged participants to make a difference, no matter their age or current role. Numerous youth dedicated their lives to Christ in His call to fight injustice in their local community, nation, and world. The evening ended with creative and fun-filled cultural presentations by nine of the eleven districts of the Philippine Nazarene Church.
Please continue to pray for the participants of the Pilipinas NYC as they are daily challenged to find where God is working and how He can use them to reach the lost of the Philippines.

I am both happy and sad for thisgathering.. Sad, because I was not able to join and be one of theparticipants for this occassion ever since I left Philippines.. I miss the ministry..but Iam happy and blessed that from the feedbackI have heard, the Lord has truly did Wonderful work thru this activity.. To all youth out there.. keep growing and glowing in Christ.. ENjoy and ravish the moment that you are with HIM and serving HIM.. Trust HIM completely with your life..ALways remember that the LORD has lots in store for you if you keep on seeking HIM.. Memories with Christ and His ministry will always be the greatest thing we all will have..
Trust him with all your heart..with all your soul.. and HE will give you the desires of your heart..
Never go astray.. but if you ever you do, the LORD will find you.. because He cares and loves you..
You will always be in our prayers.. May God bless you all..
