East Timor - Quizzing Competition! by APNYI Admin

East Timor NYI held their second Bible Quizzing event recently in the capital city of Dili with five teams in attendance. Three quizzing teams made the long and dangerous drive from the city of Losopolos, a four hour drive from Dili, to participate in the event and returned home with the first and second place trophies! Missionary Warren Neal said, “I was very proud of them. They have been working hard and their hard work stood them well. I am amazed at how easily they can memorize sometimes very long answers.”
The youth competed over the Gospel of John. The quiz took place in Indonesian, though the primary language of East Timor is Tetum. Please pray for them as they continue to seek ways to translate these quizzing materials into Tetum. Also, pray with Acy, one of the youth leaders that, “what they’ve been learning will not only stay in their brain but also would transform their lives.” One of the participants was formerly involved in a local gang, but gave his heart to Jesus, has been transformed, and is now competing on the seat, not the street.

I am so pleased to ever read this news about the Nazarene Youth of East Timor.
I used to work in East Timor and stayed in Dili from October 2004 until May 2006.
The Nazarene Youth Center is like my second home, and all people in that center
is like my extended family. They are my sisters and brothers in Christ.
Now, even though I am in Serukam, a remote village in the jungle of West Borneo,
I can always being kept up dated with the news about them, only through the availability
of this website.
Thanks for making this possible.
God bless your hard work.
In Jesus,
Donda
