Philippines – 300 Youth Ignite their Passion for Missions by APNYI Admin

Three hundred enthusiastic youth from the Metro Manila District Church of the Nazarene gathered on the campus of Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary on Saturday, October 20, 2007, to attend the first “Youth Missions Conference.” The event was led and organized by NMI president Racquel Fausto and DOSWM (Donald Owens School of World Mission) director Dr. Robert Donahue along with his mission students.
In addition to their passion, the youth were inspired by stories of what God is doing around the world, and were equipped with many useful ministry tools and techniques to reach the “4-14 window,” a huge harvest field of young people around the world between the ages of 4 to 14. An animated video from NCM and the missions testimony of Cho Moung Suk paved the way for understanding the extent of the harvest field in the 4-14 age category.

Dr. Geneva Silvernailpresented the story-telling technique based on her personal testimony wherein she found her real Father. Pastor Rene Aril shared the magic tricks tool kit for reaching out to the children. Furthermore, Priscilla Lindo introduced media resources while the Kids from the street Children’s ministry presented drama, mascot, song interpretation, and the evangecube as examples of various resources that can be used to share the Gospel.
As the Psalms promised… from the mouths of babes will I utter praise…The testimonies of the young speak for themselves…
“I realize that i am not just a young person, but I can also minister! I realize even children can be used to minister.”
” The Spirit has spoke to me because of the testimonies and have encouraged me. I want to become a missionary after I finish college.”
“My desire is to become a missionary.”
“I was encouraged here because my desire is to serve God by teaching children.”
Indeed missions begins in our own homes!

How encouraging! I work with youth in Georgia and it is exciting to see that God is raising up this generation with a passion to reach the world. Keep up the good work!
